## From patches to systematic solution

The original website suffered from a series of technical problems - non-functional
menu on some pages, semi-functional English version, and extremely slow loading.
Instead of further "patching," I chose a complete rebuild while preserving the design
as much as possible. **The transition from Elementor to Oxygen builder, removal
of unnecessary plugins or their replacement with code snippets brought dramatic
performance improvement**.

## Custom program and reservation system

I created a custom plugin for program and reservation management that handles program
display and filtering. The repertoire is handled as a _custom post type_, to which
individual performances are assigned.

Program listing with filtering by months

Events for individual plays can be filtered by:

 * Months (always for the following quarter) using JavaScript.
 * The homepage always shows only the three nearest performances from the program.
 * Each play in the repertoire shows the three nearest dates for that play.

Connection to ticket sales is flexible - links can be managed in the administration
for each date separately.

## Repertoire sorting

In addition to alphabetical repertoire sorting, a version of **sorting by most frequently
performed plays** is also implemented. With each addition/modification of a play's
date, the frequencies used for repertoire sorting are recalculated.

## **Specific solutions for theater**

**The website contains several specialized sections** - _program_, _program for
schools and kindergartens_, _workshops_, and _actor overview_.

Each section has its own display logic, but all are built on the same foundation
of _custom post types and taxonomies_. This allows for simple management and consistent
display across the website.

The following images show what the actor listings look like, detail of profiles,
and their administration.

## Technical optimization

 * Reduction of homepage size from 32 MB to a fraction of the original size
 * Image optimization and conversion of GIFs to AVIF format
 * Implementation of cache, website security
 * Connection to email marketing
 * Making the English version functional

## Stable foundation for further development

A complete rebuild was carried out with emphasis on performance and sustainability
while making the greatest effort to preserve the original web design. The theater
now has a stable foundation for further website development, which we continue to
work on step by step.

**Do you need to optimize an existing website?** I'd be happy to help you:

 * Significantly speed up loading
 * Preserve (or overhaul, as desired) the current design
 * **Implement missing features**
 * Prepare the website for future development

Let's discuss how the website could better serve your needs.
