# Cimo - Revolutionary Image Compression Plugin, WebP Conversion, and Image Resizing

**What it does**: [Cimo](https://wordpress.org/plugins/cimo-image-optimizer/) is
a revolutionary plugin for image compression. Unlike other solutions, it compresses
images before they are even uploaded to the server. It automatically converts images
to webp format and reduces their dimensions.

I recommend setting the compression to 80% and the maximum image dimensions to 1920
px.

**For whom it's for**: For anyone who uploads images to their website. Especially
useful if multiple people contribute to WordPress and often forget to optimize images.

I regularly see images larger than 3 MB on websites - last year, I saw a record-
breaking 20MB image.

The ideal is to keep images under 200 kB, even better under 120 kB, but it depends
on the use: the first image at the top of the page can be larger (especially if 
there are no other images on the page), and conversely, non-essential graphics don't
need to be high-quality.
