Brief

The client needed a new website to present her spiritual coaching services. The main requirement was a functional booking system that would allow clients to easily book consultations online. Ideally without recurring annual fees for booking tools.

Key points of the brief:

• Basic presentation website with information about services

• Low operating costs (no annual subscriptions)

Solution

Booking System Without Annual Fees

I like to use the Amelia plugin with a lifetime license - a one-time investment for the client means zero monthly or annual costs for the booking system.

Amelia handles the complete booking process in this project:

• Date selection from a calendar with available times
• Instant booking confirmation
• Automatic notifications for both client and operator

Communication Automation

I set up a system of automatic email notifications that eliminates manual booking management. Notifications work in two phases:

Before consultation - a reminder email arrives the evening before the consultation so the client doesn't forget about the appointment.

After consultation - 30 minutes after the consultation ends, an automatic thank-you email is sent. Since the services work on a voluntary donation basis, the email includes information about the possibility of financial contribution including the account number.

Importantly, the website operator also receives notifications, so she has an overview of all bookings in real time.

Note: Since emails need to be sent at specific times, the hosting must support wp-cron (scheduler) configuration - cheaper shared hosting may not allow this.

Blog with AJAX Filtering

For the blog, I implemented AJAX filtering by categories without page reload. Users select a category from a dropdown and articles are dynamically filtered. I also added search by article title, which works as part of the same AJAX solution.

The advantage of this approach is the smooth user experience - visitors don't have to wait for the page to reload with each filter change or search query.
